Web series Bahubali Before The Beginning put on hold, to see complete overhaul once again: Reports

S.S. Rajamouli has moved on from his blockbuster Bahubali franchise and is now busy focusing on the release of his upcoming project RRR starring Jr. NTR and Ram Charan. The world of Bahubali, however, was supposed to continue with a prequel web series set in Mahismati, the fictional kingdom introduced in the movie.

Titled Bahubali-Before The Beginning, the web series was commissioned by Netflix a few years ago. However, the project has run into many hurdles since its announcement and has already has had a complete overhaul in terms of production.

The series which is supposed to follow Shivagami’s character, played by Ramya Krishna in the movie, the prequel has reportedly now been put on hold.

S.S. Rajamouli who directed the two Bahubali films was to back the series as a creative producer earlier but he handed over the reins to Siddharth -Tewary" target="_self">Siddharth Tewary's Swastik Productions and distanced himself from the project. Mrunal Thakur was originally roped into play Shivagami but the actress eventually backed out after the project faced several delays. Kunal Deshmukh has also vacated the director’s chair and now the project is once again supposed to undergo a complete change.

According to an ETimes, the streaming platform has not put Bahubali: Before the Beginning on hold and Siddharth Tewary's production company is now to hand over the show to Bombay Fables who will be the new creative producers.

Director Anurag Singh known for the Jutt and Juliet franchise and Akshay Kumar ’s Kesari was reportedly in talks to helm the series after Kunal’s exit but apparently, things didn’t work out. It is also unclear if Mrunal’s replacement Waqima Gabbi will still be playing Shivagami as there’s no confirmation on who will direct the series when it eventually happens and who will direct it.
