Devoleena Bhattacharjee , who is popularly known as Gopi bahu from Saath Nibhaana Saathiya, took everyone by surprise when she tied the knot with her gym trainer Shanwaz Shaikh in a hush-hush wedding ceremony on Wednesday. The actress kept her man a mystery until she dropped her final wedding pictures posing with him. Sharing the pictures, she wrote, “And yes proudly I can say I am taken & yes shonu.”
Soon after a section of people chastised Devoleena’s low-key wedding as a case of love jihad. One of the social media users commented, “Oh yes he will follow all Hindu rituals but the babies he will make will be Muslim. Hindu rituals are a matter of joke for these people. Shame on you.” The actress gave it back to the troll in the trending Anupamaa dialogue ‘Aap Kaun?’ from the TV serial of the same name. She replied, “Whether my babies will be hindu or muslims aap kaun ? Aur itni jab apko baccho ko lekar chinta ho hi rahi hai bohot saare anaath ashrams hai, jaaiye adopt kijiye aur apne hisaab se dharm or naam decide kijiye. For the wedding, Devoleena opted for a red embroidered net saree, paired with a heavy red dupatta as her veil. While Shanwaz wore a black formal suit for the big day. Well, her fans also wondered why the actress go ahead with a very simple wedding. According to a source close to Hindustan Times, the couple envisioned a simple wedding and also Shanwaz’s family didn’t want it to be a grand affair.
