Check Out These 5 Bollywood Celebs Who Found Love In Pakistan

Every fan of Ranbir Kapoor has been wanting to know if he is dating Pakistani actor Mahira Khan. A set of pictures which surfaced online yesterday, featuring the two smoking together in New York , added to the rumours. The photos, in which Ranbir is seen dressed casually in a pair of jeans and a T-shirt, and Mahira is sporting a backless white short dress, have gone viral soon after they emerged.

While rumours about their closeness were the talk of the town ever since they were spotted at the Global Teacher Prize Ceremony together in 2017, the two had refuted such speculations - even though a video featuring the two apparently having a lovers’ tiff was leaked online in July this year.

However, this is not the first time an Indian celebrity has got into a relationship with someone from Pakistan.

Here’s a list of some other celebs who found love across the border:

Actor Salman Khan dated Somy, who hailed from Pakistan, after breaking-up with Sangeeta Bijlani in 1997. The two were reportedly in a serious relationship, but Salman fell in love with the-then emerging star, Aishwarya Rai. Somy, upon knowing about the duo’s closeness, broke up with Salman and left for the US. In an interview to a leading daily a few years ago, Somy had even said that she and Salman had to break-up because of Aishwarya.

Ashmit Patel, known for films such as Murder and Jai Ho, created a lot of buzz when he grew close to Pakistani actor Veena Malik. The two were contestants on Season 4 of the reality show, Bigg Boss. Reports about the two even ‘making love’ inside the house of Bigg Boss made the rounds, with Veena saying that she liked to call Ashmit her ‘husband’. The two broke up in 2011, apparently because it was a one-way affair from Veena’s side, and also because Veena got upset over not being invited for Ashmit’s sister, Ameesha Patel’s birthday party.

Sania Mirza- Shoaib Malik

Tennis ace Sania Mirza created headlines when she announced her engagement to Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik. The two met for the first time at a restaurant in Hobart, Australia in 2004, but the meeting had lasted for a few minutes. The very next day, Shoaib along with former fast bowler Waqar Younis went to watch her match where she found the ‘all-rounder’ Malik ‘very simple’ and ‘attractive.’ It was only after Mirza’s engagement with childhood friend Sohrab Mirza was called-off that the two decided to get married in 2010.

He soon grew close to Pakistani model and actor Iman Ali, who was last seen in Shoaib Mansoor’s film Bol in 2011. She made her debut in the film Khuda Kay Liye in 2007. The two broke up in 2014.

Reena Roy- Mohsin Khan

Reena Roy and Mohsin Khan, 1983. Reena had surprised the industry and tabloids when she announced her marriage to the Pakistani cricketer Mohsin Khan, who was at his peak of his cricket career. Even Reena was at the prime of her film career, and was a bankable actress of that circa, making her the darling of film financiers. Mohsin and Reena had a straightforward private wedding supposedly held at Karachi in Pakistan. The initial years post-wedlock were bliss. Mohsin owned a large manor in London and the couple would often keep shuttling between their houses in England and Pakistan while sometimes making a stopover at Mumbai to meet Reena’s mother. Reena and Mohsin were eventually blessed with a daughter, whom they named Jannat, and that completed their family picture. #reenaroy #mohsinkhan #retrobollywood

Actor Reena Roy got married to Pakistani cricketer Mohsin Khan in 1983, deciding to quit Bollywood at the peak of her career. However, differences soon arose between the two. Mohsin used his connection in the film industry through Reena, and even starred in Hindi films such as Saathi (1991) and Batwara (1989). Mohsin was keen on settling down in England with a British citizenship, an idea Reena did not support, due to her inability to adjust to the environment and the lavish lifestyle of Mohsin. The two broke up in the early 90s.
