After receiving a 30 years to life prison sentence in September, the "That '70s Show" actor had been confined to Los Angeles County jail. ABC News reports that this decision was made due to concerns about him being a potential flight risk.

In May, Masterson was found guilty of two rape charges connected to a 2020 accusation of forcibly raping three women in distinct incidents between 2001 and 2003. Initially tried for these allegations in late 2022, a mistrial was declared when jurors failed to reach a unanimous verdict.

    Victims' Resilience Acknowledged

Regarding the verdict, Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón stated, "Justice was finally served." He acknowledged the enduring and challenging journey for Mr. Masterson's victims, stating, "This has been a long and arduous road for the victims of Mr. Masterson.

They not only survived his abuse but also navigated a system that is often unkind to victims. I applaud their courage for coming forward and participating in this process. My hope is that this sentence will somehow bring them peace, and that their bravery will serve as an example to others."

"In the same month, Bijou Phillips, Masterson's former wife, initiated divorce proceedings, citing 'irreconcilable differences' as the grounds for their separation in court documents." "Following the divorce filing a month earlier, Masterson granted Phillips full legal and physical custody of their daughter, Fianna. Additionally, he sought visitation rights in the arrangement."
