Kangana Ranaut backs calls for Kantara’s Oscar entry as she reviews Rishab Shetty’s film: ‘I am still shaking’

Actor-director Rishab Shetty’s Kannada thriller Kantara is receiving rave reviews from critics as well as the audience. So much so that the netizens had given a call for sending the film as India’s official entry for the Oscars in 2023 as #KantaraForOscars began trending on Twitter. The latest celebrity to back the call is none other than Kangana Ranaut who was left awestruck after watching the movie. The actress took to social media to praise the film and shared her ‘explosive experience’.

Taking to her Instagram Stories, the Dhakkad actress uploaded a video of herself wherein she reviewed the film. She said, “I am coming back with my family after watching a film called Kantara and I am still shaking. What an explosive experience!. Rishab Shetty hats off to you. Writing, directing, acting, action, brilliant! Unbelievable! What a fine blend of folklore, tradition, indigenous issues. What beautiful photography, action, thriller.”

Calling it ‘unbelievable’, Kangana said she won’t come out of this experience for a long time. “This is what cinema is, this is what films are for and theatrical experience, unbelievable. I heard so many people in the theatre say, log jaate jaate keh rahe the ki humne aisa kuch bhi nahi dekha kabhi (I heard so many people say while they were leaving that they haven’t seen anything like this). Thank you for this film and brilliant. I don’t think I will recover from this experience, not for another week. Wow!” she added.

In another post, Kangana also penned a long note in which she said that Kantara should be sent to the Oscars next year. "I feel #Kantara should be India's entry to Oscar next year, I know year is yet to end and there may be better films coming, but more than Oscar India needs the right representation globally... this land of mysteries and Mystics one can't understand one can only embrace it .... India is like a miracle... if you try and make sense of it you will only get frustrated but if you surrender to the miracle you can also be one .... Kantara is an experiential reality which world must experience ..,” she wrote and also tagged the director Rishab Shetty.

Released on September 30, Kantara stars Rishab Shetty, Achyuth Kumar, Pramod Shetty, and Sapthami Gowda. After the phenomenal response, the film was later released in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam.
