R Madhavan on South industry overpowering Bollywood: Audiences will accept films they like

R Madhavan is currently gearing up for the release of his directorial debut, Rocketry : The Nambi Effect. The actor recently shared his opinion on the ongoing debate of South industry overpowering Bollywood. He said that there is an unnecessary uproar happening over it, people are going to accept and reject films according to their liking.
The 3 Idiots actor explained that finding a formula for making films successful is not possible. He also acknowledged that while south films like RRR , Pushpa, and KGF : Chapter 2 did well, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and The Kashmir Files also worked for Hindi cinema. “I think the weak ones are trying to see a pattern in it. The idea is to make films that are aspirational enough to bring the audience to the theatres. Some films may not have worked as they may have fallen into the pandemic bracket. That's all there's to it. Why have we become a country that wants to make news about everything?”, he told India Today.

Coming back to Rocketry: Nambi Effect, Madhavan has not only directed the film but also acted in it. He has also written the screenplay and lyrics and co-produced the film as well. The biographical drama will see him in the titular role of ISRO scientist Nambi Narayanan who was falsely accused of espionage. The pan-India film has Shah Rukh Khan and Suriya in cameo roles.
Recently, Madhavan also revealed that SRK and Suriya did not charge any fee for their cameo in the film. He said that the actors were only keen to play any role in the film. 'Mujhe background mein koi bhi role chalega main is film ka hissa hona chahta hu (I'm ready to play any role in the background I want to be a part of this film), Khan sahab told me” said Madhavan as reported by ANI.
Meanwhile, Rocketry: The Nambi Effect is scheduled to release in theatres on July 1. The film is jointly produced by Tricolour Films, Verghese Moolan Pictures, and 27th Entertainment .
