Sidharth Malhotra confesses he was typecast initially because of his good looks, adds, 'It's never a bad thing to be easy on the eyes'

Sidharth Malhotra confessed in a recent interviews that his good looks did come in the way of the kind of movies he got in the initial years after he debuted with Student of the Year in 2012. The actor who is currently earning accolades for his performance in the Netflix film Mission Majnu was praised by his co-star Rashmika Mandanna for being good looking yet very warm as a person the first time they met.

The Pushpa actress said in an interview with Film Companion that she was surprised by Sidharth’s humility which is when the actor was asked if being good looking ever make people take him less seriously. Sidharth revealed that in the beginning of his career it did happen to him but he continued to experiment with roles which went beyond his looks.

Talking to Anupama Chopra, Sidharth said, “I think in the beginning, they have an impression to begin with, but I think now after 10 years they have seen enough versions of you to see as to what you are capable of doing on screen. So yes, may be in the initial years for sue. In the initial years they would want to cast you in a particular category.”

“But that’s why, in fact even today, I think all my trailers looked different whether it was Hansee Toh Phasee, Ek Villain, then going to Brothers, it was me trying to mould myself in various aspects so that people would go beyond the way somebody looked aesthetically. But that having been said, it’s never bad to be easy on the eyes,” Sidharth further added.

After Shershaah, Sidharth returned with Mission Majnu playing an Indian spy in period film which is inspired from true events. The actor will yet again be seen dabbling with action genre in Yodha which is his next big project.
