Avatar 2
The world premiere for the highly anticipated Avatar: The Way of Water happened at Leicester Square in London and the early reactions from critics have hit the internet.
And it looks like Avatar 2 just may surprise the original's success with many critics praising the visual spectacle, especially the action set pieces as well the underwater sequences.
Critics do address the three-hour runtime of the movie as an issue but state that the movie is engaging despite this especially the final act of the movie. Avatar 2 is set ten years after the events of the first movie and will focus on Jake Scully and his family trying to survive after the human's act and destroy their homeland.
So let us take a look at what critics have to say about The Way of Water.
Happy to say #AvatarTheWayOfWater is phenomenal! Bigger, better & more emotional than #Avatar, the film is visually breathtaking, visceral & incredibly engrossing. The story, the spectacle, the spirituality, the beauty - this is moviemaking & storytelling at its absolute finest. pic.twitter.com/RicnpDghrx

I saw you #AvatarTheWayOfWater - if you think you've seen #Avatar think again. Only repeat from the OG is that 'never experienced anything like it' awe. Better than 1st? Easily. The 3D water world & creatures are so surreal it is downright moving. There's a major Titanic homage. pic.twitter.com/EInKRDeumD

It is clear that critics are impressed by the movie as the first responses are overwhelming positive hopefully it will continue to be so because the movie has a budget of 400 million dollars making it one of the most expensive movies ever made
And since there are three sequels already in production with Avatar 3 set to hit theaters in 2024, the future of the franchise depends on the success of The Way of Water.
#AvatarTheWayOfWater is an awe-inspiring blend between a nature documentary and a blockbuster - a thrilling three-hour-long travelogue through the oceans of Pandora with deep feeling in its foundation and an unspeakably epic third act that will leave you breathless and in tears. pic.twitter.com/f1Z6SiQQAh

#AvatarTheWayOfWater pushes CGI to new places and uses the word "family" more than any F&F movie. While some of the new characters are underutilized, Pandora is miraculously realised, the underwater stuff glorious, and the final third is full of incredible action – see in IMAX!

James Cameron's #AvatarTheWayOfWater is a monumental filmmaking achievement striking a great balance between technical & emotional. The 48fps 3D experience features some of the most jaw-dropping immersion I’ve ever seen. Felt like a kid again watching T2 for 1st time. Astounding. pic.twitter.com/cfiMADJzU4

As someone who LIKED -- but didn't LOVE -- the first AVATAR, let me tell you:

AVATAR: THE WAY OF WATER blew me away.
Vastly superior in visuals, story telling and performances, the sequel left my jaw on the ground for the entire runtime.
James Cameron is the GOD of sequels. pic.twitter.com/1cw6C94O4f
Avatar: The Way of Water, being more than 3 hours long, is both fulfilling and indulgent. It still ends wanting you to know a third is coming.

Constantly a visual feast, creative plays with frame rate, and never boring despite. Overall, I liked it. pic.twitter.com/0Wxxc8ZC9L
The movie boasts of an ensemble cast that includes Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Kate Winslet, Cliff Curtis, Jamie Flatters, Britain Dalton, Joel David Moore, and Dileep Rao.
Never bet against @JimCameron. His #AvatarTheWayOfWater surpasses the original on every level. Incredible visuals, but a much more emotional connection to the characters and story. The final hour is Cameron flexing every muscle, reminding blockbuster filmmakers how it’s done. pic.twitter.com/C7lpBs6y5U

Unsurprisingly, #AvatarTheWayOfWater is a visual masterpiece with rich use of 3D and breathtaking vistas. It does suffer from a thin story and too many characters to juggle, yet James Cameron pulls it together for an extraordinary final act full of emotion and thrilling action. pic.twitter.com/opr6CRyOwk

Even before its release, the music composed by Simon Franglen has won the Best Original Score in a Sci-Fi/Fantasy Film at this year's Hollywood Music in Media Awards.
We are sure this won't be the last award Avatar 2 will receive considering the track record of 2009s Avatar, which includes three Academy Awards for Best Art Direction, Editing, and Visual Effects.
Avatar: The Way of Water will hit theaters worldwide on Decmber 16th.
