India’s official entry for the Cannes Film Festival 2022 Rocketry : The Nambi Effect received a 10 minute long stand ovation after the movie directed by R. Madhavan premiered at the international stage.
The premiere at Palais des Festivals was attended by the Indian contingent present at Cannes including Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur and A.R. Rahman apart from several international attendees who packed the screening hall.
A video from the premiere has gone viral now where Madhavan who marks his directorial debut with the film as well as plays former ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation) scientist Nambi Narayan in the film, takes the stage along with the scientist to receive the applause.
The long delayed project is due for cinemas on July 1 and will be released in six languages Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, Hindi and English. A teaser of the film has already been released which impressed fans.
Prasoon Joshi who attended the screening wrote, “Watched #Rocektry. A truthfully crafted film with a keen eye on the subject. Congrats dear @ActorMadhavan you have intensely and authentically lived Nambi Narayanan ji on screen. Meeting #ShriNambiNarayanan ji in person was a privilege and an honour .@arrahaman @IndiaAtCannes.”

A.R. Rahman also gave a shoutout to the project after attending the premiere at Cannes and said, “Just watched #Rocketrythenambieffect at Cannes ..Take a bow @ActorMadhavan for bringing a new voice to Indian cinema #changeishere #respecttoIndianscientists.”
