Mohanlal to team up with 'Kumbalangi Nights' writer Syam Pushkaran for his next project

2022 was not a good year for Malayalam superstar Mohanlal with movies like Aaraattu and Monster being universally panned by audiences and critics alike.
Many felt that the reason behind this is the actor working with directors and writers like B. Unnikrishanan, Vysakh, and Udaykrishna, who have a terrible track record of making incredibly outdated movies.
But the actor has thankfully decided to change things up in 2023, currently, the actor is busy working with director Lijo Jose Pellissery for Malaikottai Valiban.
The movie is the first collaboration between the director and actor, Lijo Jose Pellissery is one the most critically acclaimed director working in Malayalam cinema, and fans of the actor have been hyped about the project thanks to the director's impressive track record.
And now in a recent interview, National Award-winning writer Syam Pushkaran revealed that he is working on a script for the actor.
During the promotion of his upcoming movie Thakam, Pushkran revealed that the project will be officially announced soon.
Though the writer did not go into any details about the project including who will be directing the project.
As for Malaikottai Valiban, plot details are a mystery but we do know that Mohanala will be playing a wrestler in the movie.
Producers of the movie are currently in talks with Bollywood actress Radhika Apte to play the female lead opposite Mohanlal. There are also rumors that Kamla Hassan may have a cameo in the movie as well.
After he has wrapped Malaikottai Valiban, the actor will be joining the sets of L2: Empuraan, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2019 blockbuster Lucifer. The movie is directed by Prithviraj and is expected to start filming by mid-2023.
Mohanlal will also have a cameo in the Rajinikanth action flick Jailer, marking the first time the two stars will be sharing the big screen.
Mohanlal's first movie of the new year is Alone, a pandemic thriller directed by Shaji Kailas. The movie will be released in theaters on 26 January 2023.
