Updated : January 25, 2023 12:24 PM ISTMany fans feel that SS Rajmouli's magnum opus deserved a Best Picture nomination.
RRR
RRR fans had high hopes that the movie would end with a Best Picture nomination at this year's Academy Awards, unfortunately, the movie only managed to secure a nomination for Best Original Song.
RRR was insanely popular outside of India, especially with western audiences giving it unprecedented popularity among mainstream western audiences.
This only further fueled hopes that the academy and its members might take notice, but this didn't pan out.
However, RRR did have a great run at this year's Hollywood award season having won multiple accolades at different awards shows including a Golden Globe win.
Of course, fans of the movie were quick to express their disappointment via Twitter and felt that the Academy had snubbed the movie.
RRR deserved best picture nomination. The wildest, crazy, unexpected action movie. Plus epic musical numbers. Highly recommend if you like insanity x10 and good story

We had a clear International Picture winner this year. One that had such a winning chance that it probably just about missed out on a Best Picture nom.

The Indian Oscar Selection Committee had ONE job this year, and they screwed up big time. This is unforgivable and sad. #RRR
Sorry, but #RRR -and @ssrajamouli should have the Best Picture and Best Director slots that went to TRIANGLE OF SADNESS. #Oscars

Dissappointed to not see RRR compete for Best Picture, but what an historic run for @ssrajamouli @mmkeeravaani @Shobu_, the #RRR cast, crew and the Tollywood & Indian film industries. You put Telugu cinema on the map and you’ll still (hopefully) end this run with an Oscar. ❤️

The #Oscars2023 failed to nominate #RRRMovie for Best Picture, which confirms my decision to give up on and stop watching the awards five years ago.

Here's a list of films that inspired and/or excited me this past year -- which includes RRR.https://t.co/7XcioyQ8SI
Today was a good day for you to nominate RRR and Nope for Best Picture, and you blew it.

BUT I am excited we get to see Naatu Naatu performed LIVE at the Oscars! pic.twitter.com/7nGkjWuDum
Despite not getting the Best Picture nomination, the fact that the song 'Natu Natu' from the movie did secure a Best Original Song nomination, becoming the first-ever Indian song to do so is a huge achievement.
The music for the movie was composed by National Award winner M. M. Keeravani and the song 'Natu Natu' was sung by Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava.
The cast of the movie includes N. T. Rama Rao Jr., Ram Charan, Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, Shriya Saran, Samuthirakani, Ray Stevenson, Alison Doody, and Olivia Morris.
The voting process for the final list of winners will begin on March 2nd and end on March 7th with the winners being announced live at the 95th Academy Awards presentation which will be hosted by Comedian Jimmy Kimmel and held on March 12, 2023.
