Robert Pattinson's The Batman get PG-13 rating for strong violence & disturbing content, instead of the specuated R-rating

Matt Reeves's The Batman which is set to hit theaters this March has received its official rating of PG-13. There had been many rumors that the movie would be R-rated and meant for a more mature audience.

Warner Bros has backed DC projects with R-rating in the past such as Birds of Prey, Suicide Squad, and The Joker which went on to be one of the highest-grossing R-Rated movies of all time and so the same for the Robert Pattison starrer Batman wouldn't have been a big deal.

However, the PG-13 rating will help the movie reach a wider audience and with the pandemic, the studio most likely did not want to risk the success of the movie.

Despite the PG-13 rating, the movie will have “strong violence, disturbing content, drug content, strong language, and some suggestive material" according to FilmRatings.com.

'The Batman' is set outside of the DC extended universe as a standalone movie that will focus on a younger and less experienced Batman played by Robert Pattinson as he takes on The Riddler who plans on destroying Gotham City. However, the PG 13 rating is in keeping with the tradition of the previous Batman films. 

So far the trailers and teasers have promised a darker Batman movie that we have seen in the past with the theme of vengeance at the heart of it. 

The rest of the cast includes Paul Dano, Zoe Kravitz, Colin Farrell, Jeffery Wright, and Andy Serkis. Pattison's capped crusader will be seen taking on comic book villains like the Riddler ( played byPaul Dano) and the Penguin (played by Colin Farrell).

The Batman will hit theaters on 4 March 2022.
