69th National Awards 2023: Alia Bhatt and Kriti Sanon share Best Actress award for Gangubai Kathiawadi and Mimi

    The winners of the 69th National Awards 2023 were announced today (August 24). While Allu Arjun grabbed the Best Actor Award for the movie Pushpa, it was a tie between actress Alia Bhatt and Kriti Sanon for the Best Actress for their performance in Gangubai Kathiawadi and Mimi respectively. R Madhavan’s Rocketry: The Nambi Effect won the award for Best Feature Film.

    Elaborating on the felicitations, Allu Arjun’s performance in Pushpa: The Rise Part 1 won him the Best Actor award. The movie not only turned out to be a cult blockbuster but his performance and dialogues created a rage on Indian pop culture. Fans are now awaiting the sequel to the movie with bated breath. Alia Bhatt’s Gangubai Kathiawadi was hailed as one of the best performances of her career. It told the real-life story of the woman responsible for empowering the lives of many prostitutes in Kamathipura. The movie was helmed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Furthermore, Kriti Sanon’s Mimi saw her as a woman who became a surrogate mother for a foreign couple. Her stint in the movie won her a lot of positive acclaim.

    Talking about the other winners, actress Pallavi Joshi won the Best Supporting Actress award for her act in The Kashmir Files. On the other hand, Pankaj Tripathi won the Best Supporting Actor Award for his role in Mimi. The Best Editor award went to Sanjay Leela Bhansali for his film Gangubai Kathiawadi. The Best Music Director award went to Devi Sri Prasad for Pushpa. SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus RRR won big in three categories namely Best Action, Choreography, and Special Effects. The last year’s National Award had seen Soorarai Pottru win big in several categories. The Best Actor award was shared between Suriya for Soorarai Pottru and Ajay Devgn for Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior.
