Aamir Khan rubbishes rumours of separating from Kiran Rao because of another woman; says ‘there is no one’

Back in July last year, Mr Perfectionist Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao announced that they have decided to part ways after over 15 long years of togetherness. In a joint statement, they shared that in these 15 beautiful years they shared a lifetime of experiences and laughter as their relationship grew. They went on to add, “Now we would like to begin a new chapter in our lives — no longer as husband and wife, but as co-parents and family for each other.” Soon the rumor mill began churning and reports suggested that there was another woman in Aamir’s life. Well, today on the occasion of his 57th birthday, the actor opened up about the couple’s decision to take a divorce.

In an interview with News18, he shared, “Kiran and I love each other so much. We have a lot of respect and love for one another. But people don’t get this and I accept it because we don’t see it usually. Actually, Kiran and I realised that we like each other so much and consider one another family in the truest sense. Kiran and I are actually families. But our relationship of husband and wife experienced a certain change and we wanted to respect the institution of marriage. However, we are always going to be by each other’s side. We are working together. We live close by. But we are no longer husband and wife and that’s why we decided to call it quits."

The superstar went on to clarify that he and Kiran did not part ways because of another relationship. He stated, “No. There was no one back then, there is no one now.” Aamir also shared that many people think he divorced his first wife Reena Dutta because he had met Kiran. But that’s not true because he and Kiran became friends much later.
