Akshay Kumar ’s recent theatrical releases didn’t have a very rosy fate at the box office. The actor delivered three back-to-back flops namely Bachchhaan Paandey, Samrat Prithviraj, and Raksha Bandhan at the box office. However, it seems like this has not affected the value of his direct-to-OTT releases.

Yes, you guessed it right! We are talking about the mammoth amount at which some of his OTT releases have been sold. It was recently reported that Akshay Kumar’s upcoming crime thriller Cuttputli has been sold to Disney+ Hotstar for a whopping Rs 180 crore. Despite Akshay’s current dull phase at the box office and the film receiving less anticipation for being an adaptation of the acclaimed crime flick Ratsasan, this is a surprisingly huge and rather impressive amount. Well, now it is of extreme importance that Cuttputli strikes a positive chord with the viewers on the OTT platform to be able to justify its worth.

Not only this but it should be observed that Akshay Kumar’s previous direct-to-OTT releases like Laxxmi and Atrangi Re were also more or less sold to Disney+ Hotstar at a huge amount. According to various reports, the horror-comedy flick Laxxmi was sold to the OTT streaming platform for a humongous Rs 125 crore. The movie was again a remake of the hit Tamil film Kanchana. However, the film failed to get positive reviews from the audience.

Apart from this, Akshay Kumar’s romantic-musical flick Atrangi Re which also starred Dhanush and Sara Ali Khan was sold to Disney+ Hotstar for Rs 80 crore. The amount was again not a small one and the movie went on to receive a mixed response from the audience. Well, this just hints toward the fact that despite the unpleasant phase of Akshay’s theatrical releases, his star value when it comes to the OTT platforms is remaining undeterred.
