Alia Bhatt becomes new victim of deepfake video, her face morphed into a woman making explicit gestures

    Of late, Bollywood actresses have been falling prey to deepfake videos and Alia Bhatt became the latest target. A video has been doing rounds on the internet wherein Alia’s face has been superimposed on a woman making explicit gestures on camera. In the altered clip, she can be seen wearing a blue floral co-ord set. The actor has not yet responded to the controversy.

    This comes days after Rashmika Mandanna, Kajol and Katrina Kaif’s deepfake video raised concerns regarding the misuse of Artificial Intelligence(AI). The manipulated clip depicted Mandanna entering an elevator, originally featuring a British-Indian woman who had shared the video on Instagram. Reacting to the video, Mandanna tweeted, "I feel really hurt to share this and have to talk about the deepfake video of me being spread online. Something like this is honestly, extremely scary not only for me, but also for each one of us who today is vulnerable to so much harm because of how technology is being misused." Even megastar Amitabh Bachchan reacted, “Yes, this is a strong case for legal.”

    Similarly, Katrina Kaif fell prey to an edited video showing her in a low-cut white top engaged in a fight scene with a Hollywood stuntwoman in a sequence from Tiger 3. On the other hand, Kajol’s deepfake video had her face morphed into an influencer changing clothes on camera. Neither Katrina nor Kajol reacted to the deepfake videos circulating on the internet. Well, a need for vigilance and awareness about the misuse of AI must be practised as the deepfake controversy rising in the entertainment industry

    Meanwhile, Alia is currently shooting for her upcoming film, Jigra, directed by Vasan Bala. She recently won Best Actor in the Web Original Film category at Filmfare OTT Awards for Darlings. She was also honoured with the National Award for her performance in Gangubai Kathiawadi. Her latest on-screen appearance was in Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani co-starring Ranveer Singh.
