Anupama Parameswaran to star in female-centric film by Lyca Productions

Actor Anupama Parameswaran seems to be on a signing spree. She has been roped in to play the lead role in a movie that will be bankrolled by Lyca Productions. The production company officially confirmed the news, while revealing that the first look will be unveiled on Monday at 5 PM.

The untitled project will be directed by a debutant filmmaker, AR Jeeva. It's unclear whether AR Jeeva was picked from Lyca's recent efforts to recruit new directors from the talent pool outside the industry. Recently, the production company had announced a competition of sorts, asking short filmmakers to submit their entries. Of all the entries, the production house promised that it will pick five directors to helm its next projects.

The upcoming project seems to be a female-centric movie, with Anupama Parameswaran essaying the lead role. It can be a turning point for Anupama's career, who so far mostly played supporting female leads in hero-centric movies.

Anupama will also be seen leading another female-centric movie named "Paradha". The film will be helmed by Praveen Kandregula, the director of the critically acclaimed 2021 Telugu movie "Cinema Bandi".

Based on the first look poster, "Paradha" seems to be a biting commentary on the societal prejudices against women. The film seems to examine how men have been using culture to oppress women, limiting their potential and ambitions.
