Anurag Kashyap admits judging Karan Johar; but here’s how things changed when they met

As most of us remember, there was a time that filmmaker Anurag Kashyap and Karan Johar said some nasty things about each other. But after they finally met, things changed.

Anurag Kashyap admits judging Karan Johar; but here’s how things changed when they met

Anurag Kashyap and Karan Johar are two of the most popular filmmakers of the Hindi film industry. While Kashyap has given the audience several impactful masterpieces like Gangs of Wasseypur and Manmarziyaan, Johar has helmed films like Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and My Name Is Khan, which fans have thoroughly enjoyed. When we see their work and personalities, they seem like two very different individuals. However, Anurag feels they are the same and claims that KJo is a ‘misunderstood’ person.

In a recent chat with Pinkvilla, Anurag shared, “Karan Johar was a late discovery becomes he comes from privileged and I knew his father. I've judged him a lot. When I met him, I found him to be like me but on the other side of the coin. He also treats his filmmakers, people, and his directors and gives them as much freedom and empowerment. He is a misunderstood person. The most amazing thing about him is he has his own critic.”

He went on to reveal that Somen Mishra, the creative head of Dharmatics, was a critic of Karan’s but still the filmmaker hired him. Kashyap explained, “That is a sign of a visionary and a courageous man.” On the work front, Anurag’s latest directorial titled Dobaaraa releases today. The mystery drama marks his reunion with actress Taapsee Pannu, who also headlined Manmarziyaan. So far it has received mixed reactions from critics. While some have called it complex, many others are praising the filmmaker for bringing them new and exciting content.

Karan, on the other hand, is back with his chat show Koffee With Karan. He also returned to the director’s chair some time back for his much awaited family dramedy Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani.
