    Queen Elizabeth II , the longest-serving monarch of the UK, passed away on Thursday, after 70 years of reign. She took her last breath in the afternoon at her Scottish estate, Balmoral, where she had spent much of the summer. After the doctors placed the Queen under medical supervision, her children and grandchildren gathered at Balmoral. The King and his wife, now Queen of Consort, are expected to address the nation today.

    As soon as the unfortunate news broke, social media got flooded with tributes and heartfelt condolences for the beloved Queen. Bollywood stars like Kareena Kapoor Khan , Anushka Sharma , Sushmita Sen , and others expressed grief. Calling it the end of an era, actor Riteish Deshmukh wrote, “Through the toughest times she never let got of her dignity. Today is indeed a sad day, condolences to the family and the people of UK.”

    Kareena and Anushka shared the same picture of the beautiful Queen from her early days of reign on their respective Instagram stories. While Kareena dropped a heart emoji, Anushka wrote, “Rest in grace”. Sushmita posted the latest picture of the Queen and penned a heartfelt note alongside it “What an incredible & truly celebrated life!!! She loved colors & lived every shade of it, in a single lifetime…The very embodiment of QUEEN!!! Rest in peace Queen Elizabeth ll,” read the post.
