Actress Yogita Bihani is currently receiving several laurels for her performance in the Saif Ali Khan and Hrithik Roshan starrer Vikram Vedha . She also received a compliment from her co-star Saif who called her a ‘breath of fresh air’ after watching the film. In an exclusive interview with Desimartini, Yogita spoke about the positive response to her act in the film and whether she was nervous to share screen space amongst such big names in her debut film itself.

Talking about the same, Yogita Bihani said, “I was so happy when Saif (Ali Khan) said that and that was the first time that someone was seeing my performance as I hadn't seen the movie. So if Saif said that, I'm sure I've done a good job. When somebody like Saif Ali Khan compliments you, it has words. Honestly, I don't think I'll be nervous while working with big names because when you walk into a set, you're not Yogita but you're playing that character. It's never going to be Yogita or Hrithik Roshan but instead Chanda and Vedha Bhaiya. But generally, also even if you put me in any room, I don't think I'll be underconfident but yes, there are some things that I might not know about since I'm not from the industry. But if I'm put in a room where I've to act, I think I really own it.”

Apart from this, Yogita also recalled how she landed the coveted part of Chanda in Vikram Vedha. The actress said, “So I auditioned for the film when I got to know about it. So, since it was COVID back then, I did a self-test and during such a situation, there is nobody to give you a brief. When you're doing a general audition, you've people to tell you what they're expecting. So, my audition was for the scene where my character is telling Shatak (Rohit Saraf) that he's only giving his attention to Vedha Bhaiya (Hrithik Roshan) and that he's also forgotten my birthday. It came from a very personal space because she wants to go to Mumbai to become an actress and her whole life revolves around Shatak who's forgotten her birthday. I felt all of that and recorded and sent my audition, then I also got shortlisted but for the next 2 months, there wasn't any word from them. Then I got to know that the project has been pushed since the directors (Pushkar Gayatri) got COVID. Then I finally got the confirmation in August when I auditioned for the film in February.”

Yogita Bihani also revealed how she felt a special connection with the character of Chanda due to her name. Further adding, “Then I had a Zoom call audition with the directors and I also knew that other actresses are also auditioning for the part. But in my heart, I knew that Chanda is going to be me and especially the name of the character. I love the sky, stars, and the moon so I really loved the name of the character. I also realized that the character is so fierce since she doesn't keep anything in her heart and just tells everything honestly which is also how I'm in real life. I'm very expressive with my emotions and so is Chanda. I had a lot of fun performing her because everything she does, she owns it. Be it sitting with the Vedha gang where she doesn't care that they're such dreaded gangsters as she also considers herself a Gundi. She can also poke fun at Vedha Bhaiya so effortlessly. So that was an interesting aspect where Vikram and Vedha are taking the center stage, there's also Chanda who doesn't care about any of these people.”

The movie also stars Rohit Saraf, Sharib Hashmi, and Radhika Apte in the lead roles. It has been directed by Pushkar and Gayatri. The movie is a Hindi remake of a Tamil film starring R Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi.
