A special CBI court in Mumbai has announced the final verdict in Jiah Khan’s suicide case. Actor Sooraj Pancholi who was her boyfriend at the time of her death was the main accused in the case. The court has announced him not guilty of the charges and he has been acquitted of abetment charges in the case.

Sooraj was accused of alleged abetment of the suicide of Jiah Khan. The actor was accompanied by his mother and veteran actress Zarina Wahab at the court today. The actor got this relief due to reportedly the lack of evidence that would have proven him guilty.

Before the verdict, Zarina Wahab had said, “I know my son is innocent. I am fully confident that my son will get justice, because he is innocent.”While on the other hand, the late Jiah Khan’s mother had hoped for justice for her daughter. Earlier, before the final verdict was announced, Jiah’s mother’s lawyer said that their written submission got delayed. However, the court has allowed the lawyer to make their submission.

According to a news report in News 18, Rabia Khan’s lawyer made a written submission yesterday (April 27). The court had directed all the lawyers to make the submission by a specific date. But Sooraj Pancholi’s lawyers have taken objection to the last-minute submission. As a result, the case has been kept back and will again be called out at 12 pm today (April 28) Special Judge A S Sayyad announced the verdict today.

Talking about the late actress, Jiah Khan who had made a mark for herself in Bollywood with the movie Nishabh opposite Amitabh Bachchan was found dead in her home on June 3, 2013.
