Koffee With Karan 7: Ranbir Kapoor joked about marrying 18-year-old Alia Bhatt on Student Of The Year sets; the actress didn't know about it until now

On the opening episode of Koffee with Karan 7, Alia Bhatt was caught unaware when Ranveer Singh and Karan Johar told her that Ranbir Kapoor had once joked about marrying her over a decade ago. The actor had visited the sets of her debut film Student of the Year which was released a decade ago in 2012. The actress who is now married to him, has made headlines for manifesting her relationship with Ranbir who she had admitted she had a crush on, years ago.

Karan, for whom Alia is like a daughter, admitted to her on his chat show that he had told Neetu Kapoor, her mother-in-law, about how he had a feeling that Ranbir would marry her. He also told Alia how everyone felt that Alia and Ranbir would get in a relationship while working on Brahmastra and called the film a product of their love story.

It was Ranveer who brought up Ranbir's Student of the Year visit and said, "Didn't he come on the sets of Student of the Year and joked with you [Karan Johar], 'Should I marry her?'" to which Karan said yes.

Alia Bhatt, in fact, wasn't aware of this development and reacted by saying, "What?" to which Ranveer responded, "You didn't know? Yeah, it was half-joke."

Alia Bhatt filmed Student of the Year in 2011 and was only 18 at the time while Ranbir Kapoor was in a relationship with actress Katrina Kaif . While Ranbir might have been joking at the time, little did he know that he'd end up proposing to Alia over a decade later and be marrying her.

The Brahmastra actress did however, share how after signing Brahmastra everyone around her did comment on the fact that how both she and Ranbir were single and would totally get into a relationship while working together. She also shared how they did discuss the prospect of dating right from the start and also narrated the story of their discussion about it on a flight as they went to Israel for a Brahmastra workshop together.

Well, rest as they say is history and the couple finally solidified their commitment after five years of being together by tying the knot in their Mumbai home Vastu on April 14 this year.
