Samrat Prithviraj vs Major box office: Akshay Kumar's film inching towards Rs 50 crore, Adivi Sesh starrer sells 2 million tickets in three days

Adivi Sesh’s Major and Akshay Kumar starrer Samrat Prithviraj were released at the box office on June 3 and since then there were high expectations riding on both the movies when it came to their box office performances. Even though, both the films started off with a slow start, now they are gaining a steady pace. While Akshay’s movie will soon enter the Rs 50 crore mark, Sesh’s film has sold around 2 million tickets in just 3 days.

Talking about Adivi Sesh starrer Major, the movie sold 2 million tickets in just 3 days and Sesh also took to his social media handle to share the happy news with his fans. The total collection of the movie now stands at Rs 35.6 crore. Sesh wrote, “People ask why I’m posting about #Major’s amazing Collections. That #Major is not a regular film. TWO MILLION people watched and loved the story of #MajorSandeepUnnikrishnan. THAT is why I spoke about it. On the other hand, Akshay Kumar’s Samrat Prithviraj has minted Rs 44 crore in totality and will soon reach the Rs 50 crore mark. However, the movie needs to pick up more pace, given its massive budget of Rs 300 crore. According to a news report in India Today, the period drama saw a decline in its occupancy over its morning shows on its first Monday. The occupancy was just at 9 percent with reportedly some shows also being canceled due to no audience. The film has minted around Rs 4 to 5 crore on its 4th day.

While Major revolves around the heroism and courage of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, the hero of 26/11, Samrat Prithviraj chronicles the valor and bravery of Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan. Adivi Sesh’s film has been helmed by Sashi Kiran Tikka while Akshay Kumar starrer has been directed by Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi. Major also stars Prakash Raj , Revathi , Saiee Manjrekar while Samrat Prithviraj also features Manushi Chhillar , Sanjay Dutt , and Sonu Sood.
