Star box office collection day 1: Huge opening for Kavin's romantic drama | Find out how much

Kavin-starrer Star, directed by Elan, had a successful theatrical release on May 10 and saw a strong opening. The film, which also stars Aaditi Pohankar and Preity Mukhundan, revolves around the journey of a young man’s aspiration while pursuing his passion for acting. It chronicles the rise and struggles of his journey. Here’s how much Kavin's drama collected at the box office on Day 1:

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Star opened on a massive note in the country. Star minted approximately Rs 2.70 crore on its opening day across all the states in India. Reports reveal that the film enjoyed an average Tamil occupancy of 38.83%. The movie, which was released alongside Arjun Das’ Rasavathi, was successfully able to draw in more audiences thanks to the fascinating trailer, which prompted many viewers to watch Elan’s magic on big screens. Going by the average reception for Rasavathi, it is safe to assume that Kavin's film is expected to rake in more at the box office this weekend.

Elan heaps praise on Kavin’s acting chops

Director Elan spoke about Kavin’s acting methods in a recent interview. Heaping praise on the actor’s skills, the director pointed out that Kavin is very conscious about not going overboard with his acting. He also added that the actor maintains a metre for acting, which he appreciates.

Star is Elan's second directorial outing. He made his debut as a director with Pyaar Prema Kaadhal in 2018, which was a huge hit at the box office. 

Besides Kavin, Star also stars Lal and Geetha Kailasam, who play his parents. Aaditi and Preity play his love interests in the film. Apart from the main cast, the film also has three cameo appearances.
