On the occasion of International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, actor Suniel Shetty attended a workshop in Mumbai organised by the Central Bureau of Investigation. The actor was a special guest at the event that was meant to spread awareness about the abuse of drugs and its impact on health, Suniel spoke about Bollywood being bashed as an industry of drug abusers due to the recent cases.

Taking the dais, Suniel spoke about Bollwyood celebrities being targeted and said, “Ek galti kardi toh chor hai, dakait hai .. nahi main 30 saal se industry mein hoon aur 300 dost hain mere jinhone zindagi mein kuch kiya nahi hai, like you said the gateway but that gateway has to stop there.”

“No Bollywood is not filled with druggies. Galtiyan hum karte hain, unhein bhi bachon ki tarah dekh ke maaf kijiyega. Hashtag ‘boycott Bollywood’, hashtag ‘Bollywood druggies’ aeisa hai nahi,” Suniel added saying.

The actor also spoke about drug addicts being treat as criminals and said that the society should rather have a sympathetic outlook towards abusers to help them come of of these life threatening situations.

Bollywood has gained a lot of negative limelight in the past few years as several celebrities were investigated on the charges of alleged drug consumption by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) when the agency first began to investigate the drug links in late Sushant Singh Rajput ’s death case.

While nothing was found on the several celebrities the NCB questioned, the matter flared further when Shah Rukh Khan ’s son Aryan Khan was put behind bars after being detained at a cruise party in October 2021. Aryan was cleared of all charges by the NCB earlier this year as it submitted its findings in the case.

This is not the first time Suniel has spoken the Bollywood drug issue. The actor has vocally lent support to Aryan and Shah Rukh when the star kid was being investigated last year despite no drugs being found on him.
