Sushmita Sen gears up to essay transgender activist Gauri Sawant in six-episode-drama series
The six-episode drama series will tell the tale of Gauri and her rise in the community. It will go on floors in November end.
Sushmita Sen has been in demand after her web series Aarya directed by Ram Madhvani received many accolades. It was reported that she has been reading scripts and has signed another web series. Well, it is recently revealed that she is all set to essay the role of a transgender for the first time in her career in a new web series.
According to a PeepingMoon report, Sushmita will play Mumbai-based transgender activist Gauri Sawant . “Sushmita loved this character of Gauri, who is a courageous, warm-hearted, strong-willed woman fighting against all odds for the transgender community of India,” said the source. The six-episode drama series will tell the tale of Gauri and her rise in the community. It will also showcase Gauri’s bond with her adopted child Gayatri.
Gauri is the founder of Sakhi Char Chowghi which helps transgender people and people with HIV/AIDS. She was made the goodwill ambassador of the Election Commission in Maharashtra. Produced by Arjun Singh Baran and Kartik D Nishandar under Global Sports Entertainment and Media Solutions, the upcoming web series will go on floors in November end.
Besides it, Sushmita will also be commencing the third season of her hit series Aarya. The series follows the journey of a fierce mother to keep her family safe from the world of crime after entering the vicious network following her husband’s demise. The upcoming third season will see Sushmita reprising her role as Aarya Sareen but for a completely new journey.
Meanwhile, Sushmita Sen has signed up for a biopic whose rights have been acquired by Mansi Bagla of Mini Films and photographer Subi Samuel’s Bungalow No 84, joined by Soham Rockstar Entertainment. On the personal front, Sushmita is reportedly dating businessman and former IPL chairman Lalit Modi.
