Tollywood legend Kaikala Satyanarayana passes away at 87

    Many Tollywood stars including Chiranjeevi, Ram Charan and Nani payed tribute to the late legend.

    Kaikala Satyanarayana passed away on Friday at his residence in Filmnagar, Hyderabad, The actor was admitted to the hospital a few days ago due to age-related illnesses.

    The last rites will be performed on Saturday at Hyderabad Mahaprasthanam.

    Born in 1935, Kaikala Satyanarayana began his career in the 1959 film Sipayi Koothuru directed by Changayya and would go on to work as a stand-in for N.T. Rama Rao until NTR cast him in his 1960 film Apoorva Sahasra Siraccheda Chintamani.

    The actor is known for his iconic villain roles in movies like Narthanasala, Bhale Rangadu, and Kondaveeti Simham.

    Some of his most notable performances include movies like Yamaleela, Yamudiki Mogudu, Prema Nagar, Dana Veera Soora Karna, Murari, Cheppave Chirugali,

    He has acted in 750 films in a career spanning nearly 5 decades. In 2017 he was awarded the Filmfare lifetime achievement award.

    His last acting role was in the 2019 smash hit Maharshi in which he stared alongside Mahesh Babu.

    Kaikala Satyanarayana also produced the critically and commercially sucessfull 1994 movie Bangaru Kutumbam which starred Akkineni Nageswara Rao and Jayasudha in the lead.

    The actor entered politics in 1996, winning Lok Sabha elections from the Machilipatnam constituency.

    Many Tollywood celebrities including Chiranjeevi, Ram Charan, Mahesh Babu, Nani, and more paid tribute to the legend via social media.

    There will be a public homage to the legend at his residence today, many Tollywood stars are expected to attend and pay tribute to the legend one last time.

    The actor is survived by his wife Nageswaramma and his four children.
