Veteran actor Satish Kaushik dies at 66, Anupam Kher shares the tragic news

The film industry saw an irreparable loss after veteran actor Satish Kaushik passed away in the wee hours of the morning on March 9, 2023. The tragic news was shared by his best friend and actor Anupam Kher on his social media handle. Kaushik was 66 years of age at the time of his passing.

Anupam Kher shared a beautiful throwback black and white picture with Satish Kaushik. He captioned the same stating, “I know "death is the ultimate truth of this world!" But I never thought in my dreams that I would write this thing about my best friend #SatishKaushik while alive. Such a sudden full stop on friendship of 45 years!! The veteran actor was a powerhouse of talent and also dabbled as a writer, director, producer, and comedian. He had a foothold in theatres before making his foray into films. Probably, one of Satish Kaushik’s most memorable roles was that of the free-spirited Calender in the 1987 blockbuster movie Mr. India. He was also known for his performances in movies like Deewana Mastana, Ram Lakhan, Jamai Raja, Pardesi Babu, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Haseena Maan Jayegi, Saagar, Maasom, Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro, Woh Saat Din and many more. He was mostly known for his comedic roles.

He also dabbled as a director and helmed the hit 2003 film Tere Naam which starred Salman Khan in the lead role. He was nominated for Best Director at both the Filmfare and the IIFA Awards. In recent times, he had starred in movies like Chhatriwali, Thar, Sharmaji Namkeen, and Kaagaz. He was also shooting for the Kangana Ranaut starrer Emergency wherein he was playing the role of Jagjivan Ram. However, the actual reason for his demise is still not known. He is now survived by his wife Shashi Kaushik and daughter Vanshika.
