Yami Gautam says no one believed she could pull off her role in Uri besides this person

One of Bollywood’s finest actresses, Yami Gautam began her journey in the Hindi film industry 10 years ago with Vicky Donor opposite Ayushmann Khurrana . She went on to star in many films but it was in 2019 that she blew the audiences away with one of her most impactful performances ever-- an undercover RAW agent in Uri: The Surgical Strike , helmed by filmmaker Aditya Dhar , who is now her husband. Yami was lauded for her versatile performance and the film definitely acted as a milestone in her acting career.

In a recent interview with News 18, Yami revealed that she discusses roles as well as films with her parents and also husband Aditya. The actress shared, “He has a mind, which is full of brilliant ideas and some really unique perspectives. He cast me in a film at a time when no one saw me pulling it off even though I made my debut with a film like Vicky Donor.” She explained, “I was only being offered certain types of roles, but he cast me in a different character. That same year (2019), Bala happened. So he’s someone who has a mind like that and he will never go the cliche way.”

Yami further explained that the filmmaker will always attempt to break what he’s already done and move on. She feels Aditya has a completely different outlook. Also starring Vicky Kaushal , Uri: The Surgical Strike marked Aditya Dhar’s directorial debut for which he was honored with the national award for Best Director.
