    The much-awaited trailer of Nushrratt Bharuccha starrer Akelli has made its way to the audience and received mixed reactions so far. The short clip introduces Nushrratt as Jyoti, a young Indian woman who moves to Iraq for work. She soon gets caught up in a war zone and struggles to move back to India. The intriguing trailer also gave a glimpse of Fauda stars Tsahi Halevi and Amir Boutrous, who are set to make their Bollywood debut with the movie.

    Sharing the trailer on her Instagram handle, Nushrratt wrote, “AKELLI - An Ordinary Girl’s Battle For Survival. #AkelliTrailer, Out Now.” Reacting to the trailer, one of the fans wrote, “Wow Nushratt, can’t wait to watch this one. You are truly amazing.” Another fan said, “Looks like a powerful movie.” “Seems like a must-watch!” read a comment. On the other hand, a section of netizens called it a ‘propaganda movie’.

    “Another propaganda movie is on the way,” wrote a user. “Pahle nafrat felane wali sarkar thi . Ab Bollywood Wale bhi nafrat fela rahe hai.. shameless.......(bikau),” added another netizen. Meanwhile, Akelli is helped by Pranay Meshram, who earlier worked as assistant director in Queen(2013) and Commando 3(2019).

    Nushrratt had earlier said that it was an overwhelming experience while shooting for Akelli. “It was emotionally draining for me to portray a character like this, and it makes you think of all the challenges that someone so young must have to go through to provide for their loved ones.," she said in a statement. Meanwhile, Akelli is set to hit theatres on August 18, the same day on which Abhishek Bachchan starrer Ghoomer is scheduled to release. Directed by R Balki, Ghoomer also stars Saiyami Kher, Shabana Azmi and Angad Bedi.
