Akshay Kumar fall back on franchises after back to back flops, adds Jolly LLB 3 to his 2023 line-up

Akshay Kumar is all set to return for a third instalment of the Jolly LLB franchise. The film gets added to Akshay’s long list of projects already in the pipeline which include movies like Ram Setu, Mission Cinderella, OMG 2 among several others.

According to recent reports, the script for the film is locked the court room drama is touted to be bigger than the previous two films of the franchise. Subhash Kapoor will be directing Jolly LLB 3 with Star Studios backing the project. The shoot for the film is expected to begin in early 2023 according to a Pinkvilla report.

Akshay took over the reins of the Jolly LLB franchise from Arshad Warsi in 2017 after the original emerged a sleeper hit at the box office in 2013. The 2017 film, remains one of the most underrated films of Akshay’s filmography despite earning over a 100 crores at the box office.

The news of Akshay doing Jolly LLB 3 comes days after the release of his third film of 2022, Raksha Bandhan. The recently released film also happens to the actor’s third flop in a row after he revived the Bollywood box office in a big way with Sooryavanshi last year.

Among Akshay’s flops this year are also Bachchhan Paandey and Samrat Prithviraj. However, the star isn’t the only Bollywood celebrity who has failed to deliver a hit this year. Raksha Bandhan has flopped despite decent reviews and so far managed to earn only Rs. 14.6 crores.

Hopefully going back to a proven franchise like Jolly LLB will help Akshay register another hit. However, before that happens, Akshay has a tight schedule juggling several projects at the moment. He has a film with Parineeti Chopra currently being shot in the U.S. after having wrapped up Selfie with Emraan Hashmi. He also has the actioner Bade Miyan Chote Miyan with Tiger Shroff to begin work on.

Up ahead in the year, Akshay is looking forward for the release of his film Ram Setu in October.
