According to a new report producers of Ajith Kumar's ' AK62 ' has signed on Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to play the lead opposite Ajith in the project.

This would mark the second time in 23 years that the duo has worked together, they previously worked together in the 2000 romantic drama Kandukondain Kandukondain.

Initially, it was believed that Trisha had been signed to play the lead, so this could mean that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has replaced the actress, or better yet AK62 could have two female leads.

The two actresses did work together in director Mani Ratman's Ponniyen Selvam: Part 1 as Nandini(Aishwarya Rai Bachchan) and Kundavai Devi(Trishna Krishnan) and were praised for their performances and on-screen chemistry.

Add in the fact the actor Arvind Swami has been cast as the main antagonist in the movie and has Ajith fans hyped for the project.

The shooting for the project is scheduled to begin in the first week of February in Mumbai and is expected to wrap up in 35-40 days.

While the rest of the cast is yet to be announced, we do know that actor Santhanam will also be a part of the project.

Composer Anirudh will be handling the music for the project, marking the composer's fifth collaboration with director Vignesh Shivan.

The director's last project was the romantic comedy movie Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal, which starred Vijay Sethupathi, Nayanthara, and Samantha in the lead and was a success at the box office having grossed around 70 crores.

Meanwhile, Ajith's first movie of 2023, the heist-thriller movie Thunivu directed by H. Vinoth has a massive hit at the box office and has 125 crores, making it the second highest-grossing movie of the new year.

As for ' AK62 ', the movie is produced by Lyca Productions, with OTT rights bagged by streaming giant Netflix.

Thunivu is currently running in theaters.
