    Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has finally reacted to the demands of making The Kashmir Files tax-free in Delhi.

    The Kashmir Files is officially Bollywood’s top grosser of the post pandemic era. The film has entered the 200 crore club and beaten the record of Akshay Kumar ’s Sooryavanshi which had so far been the biggest Bollywood film to release after Covid-19 struck Indian shores. In the midst of this big achievement, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has responded to appeals of making Anupam Kher’s film tax free in the state as has happened for the film in several other states so far.

    The Aam Admi Party leader has said during a session of the state assemby that those who have been asking him to grant The Kashmir Files a tax-free status in the national capital should ask filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri to put the film on YouTube if they want to see it for free.

    “They say make Kashmir Files tax-free. Post it on YouTube and it will be free,” Arvind Kejriwal said addressing the matter in the assembly. He further added, “Why are you saying make it tax free. Ask Vivek Agnihotri to share it on YouTube and it will be free, everyone will watch it. What is the need to make it tax-free?”

    The Kashmir Files, which is based on the exodus of the Kashmiri Pandits in 1990, has been gaining a lot of political attention. Several politicians have endorsed the film and made it tax-free. Currently the movie which is running in over 4000 screens across the country, it tax free in states like Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Haryana, Goa, Uttarakhand, Tripura, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.

    The movie arrived in cinemas on March 11 and after humble beginnings at the box office, saw a sharp rise in ticket sales. The cast of the film apart from Anupam Kher includes Mithun Chakraborty, Darshan Kumar, Pallavi Joshi among others.
