Gehraiyaan: Ananya Panday opens up on working with Deepika; clarifies that the film is not glorifying infidelity

The much awaited trailer of Shakun Batra ’s domestic noir film Gehraiyaan finally released earlier this week and it was even more interesting than we expected. Starring a talented and extremely popular cast of actors like Deepika Padukone , Ananya Panday , Siddhant Chaturvedi and Dhairya Karwa , the film follows the story of two couples and the concept of infidelity. Alisha, played by Deepika, is a woman who is not happy with her life or her relationship with Karan aka Dhairya. Things take a passionate turn when she meets her cousin Tia’s fiancé Zain, portrayed by Siddhant, and sparks fly between them.

In the film, Siddhant’s character will cheat on Ananya with her cousin Deepika. Talking about the same to Mid Day, Ananya shared that as she’s only 23, she has not faced a similar situation in real life. She went on to call Tia one of the most emotionally fleshed-out characters that she has played till date. Sharing her experience of working with Deepika, Ananya stated that she always looked up to the actress but after Gehraiyaan, she has started loving DP for the person she is. Ananya explained, “She makes sure no one feels left out. She doesn’t make anyone feel overwhelmed, and is warm and loving.”

Talking about the film’s take on infidelity, Ananya shared, “The choice we all made was to observe this relationship rather than judge it. Just because the film has the concept of infidelity, it doesn’t mean we are endorsing or glorifying it. We are merely observing four characters, their reactions and complexities. It was important for us not to judge the relationship. We are leaving it to the audience, and are keen to know their perspective on it.”

Well, we can’t wait to see how the two couples deal with all the drama when the film finally premieres on Amazon Prime Video on 11th February.
