Gehraiyaan trailer: Love, heartbreak, betrayal, guilt and complexities of modern love intertwine in Shakun Batra's next

Deepika Padukone , Siddhant Chaturvedi, Dhairya Karwa and Ananya Panday starrer Gehriyaan trailer was finally launched today in a virtual event by Amazon Prime Video . The project helmed by filmmaker Shakun Batra who has previously helmed films like Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu and Kapoor & Sons is once again ready to take the audience on a journey to discover complex human emotions through this romantic drama.

Cast and Story

Gehriyaan weaves a complex web of emotions casting the spotlight on relationships where lives of four individuals are intrinsically interlinked. Deepika plays Alisha who craves love and respect from her partner Karan played by Dhairya Karwa. She is shown to be having an affair with Siddhant’s Zain who in turn is cheating on his partner Tia played by Ananya in the movie who is Alisha's cousin.

There is a tone of melancholy and a focus on unrequited love, adulting and guilt in Gehraiyaan.

The trailer shows how Ananya introduces Zain her fiancee to her cousin Alisha and her partner Karan. Alisha and Zain who are rather lonely form a bond and are attracted to one another. Their affair makes things all apart as Alisha is consumed by guilt while Tia suspects Zain. 

Apart from the four leading cast members the film also stars Naseeruddin Shah and Rajat Kapoor .

Deepika said in a statement that her role in Gehraiyaan is close to her heart and one of the most challenging parts she's played in her career. Speaking about the project she said, "Each of the characters’ struggles and arcs are real, raw and relatable. Our endeavour is to take viewers on a journey they will relate to. When it comes to dealing with relationships and human emotion, Shakun is truly a master of his craft."

Ananya said that working on the movie has been a 'real high' for her. "There’s a certain realness to the story of Gehraiyaan; while the film dives into the complexity of relationships it also talks about the thrill of being in love, of discovering oneself and charting ones’ path. Tia has been one of my favourite characters to play and the way Shakun has dealt with the modalities of each character and has brought out the best in every one of us in his unique way is amazing." she added.

Release Date

Gehriyaan skipped plans of theatrical release and will arrive directly on Amazon Prime Video on February 11. The movie was originally announced for a 25 January release but was pushed for unknown reasons. Deepika announced the new release date on her birthday earlier this month along with sharing new character posters.
