Heropanti 2 Vs Runway 34 box office prediction: Tiger Shroff to beat Ajay Devgn on opening day with his masala entertainer

This Friday saw two big movie releases, Ajay Devgn - Amitabh Bachchan starrer Runway 34 and Tiger Shroff- Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer Heropanti 2. While the former is loosely based on the true story of the Jet Airways Doha-Kochi flight, the latter is the sequel to its original 2014 film Heropanti. In terms of box office opening and the weekend, Tiger starrer is predicted to have the edge over Ajay Devgn’s movie owing to its massy and intrinsic value.

As per trade analyst Akshaye Rathi, the Heropanti 2 is likely to earn Rs 8-9 crores, while Runway 34 will open at Rs 5 crore. “Between the two, Heropanti 2 will get a slightly bigger opening for the simple reason that it caters to a mass audience, while Runway 34 feels slightly urban, which will be appealing to the audience at multiplexes. However, the presence of superstars like Ajay Devgn and Amitabh Bachchan will give it a wider reach,” he told Indian Express.

Also, the Kannada film KGF : The Chapter 2 is still raking in quite the moolah at the box office. However, the film exhibitor believes that no movie can affect another, the only thing that can damage the movie is its prospects and merits. “For example, Baahubali 1 and Bajrangi Bhaijaan came one week apart from each other and did well, and there have been movies that have released on the same day and have done well. So, ultimately the only thing that can damage your movie is the prospects and merits of the film. If both these movies have merits to draw audience then its KGF 2 or any other film, people will turn up to watch it.” Akshaye told BollywoodLife.

Meanwhile, trade analyst Ramesh Bala feels that KGF 2 Hindi will definitely affect the new releases. “Yes, it would certainly affect the two releases. Till yesterday, it was performing well and Eid is also coming. There hasn’t been a big drop, so to some extent, it will affect Runway 34 and Heropanti 2’s collections,” said Bala adding that Heropanti 2 is likely to take lead at the box office.
