Nikamma: Shilpa Shetty makes a dhamakedaar comeback on Instagram; unveils her new avatar as Avni

Shilpa Shetty Kundra made her comeback to social media in a brand new avatar as Avni, the character from her upcoming film Nikamma . Earlier, the actress has taken a break from social media and announced the same on Instagram and Twitter.

With her new social media post, it is clear now that Shilpa’s temporary exit from social media was a promotional stunt for her upcoming film Nikamma directed by Sabbir Khan. Taking to her Instagram, the actress shared an intriguing motion poster featuring herself as a superhuman named Avni. In the caption, she wrote, “Now we're talking 😉 In a brand new avatar! Who is the REAL ‘AVNI’???!! Do show some love😉 & watch this space for more♥️(Sound On🔊) Remember tomorrow 17th May, launching the NIKAMMA trailer at 11:30 am”

Earlier on May 12, Shilpa had taken to her social media handles and announced that she is going off social media as she is ‘bored of the monotony’. Posting an all-black photo, Shilpa wrote, “Soooo bored of the monotony, everything looking the same... going off social media till I find a new avatar (sic).

Nikamma is an upcoming actioner also starring Abhimanyu Dassani and Shirley Setia in prominent roles. The makers of the film have earlier unveiled the motion poster featuring Abhimanyu wearing a vest and a pair of jeans, as he rains punches and kicks on a bunch of goons.“Dushmano ko yaad aayegi unki amma jab saamne hoga humara Nikamma! 💪🔥,” read the caption.

After 15 years of sabbatical, Shetty had returned to the movies and Nikamma was her project to which she first said yes. However, Priyadarshan’s Hungama 2 released last year became her first movie after her hiatus. Talking about Nikamma, she had said, “It’s the first film I said yes to after my sabbatical, and I was convinced by Sabbir’s grasp on the craft and the unusual and exciting part he had to offer. Avni has been one of my most challenging roles yet, but also a part I enjoyed playing to the hilt. Can’t wait for people to enjoy Nikamma in the theatres.”

Besides Nikamma, Shilpa will next be seen in Sukhee directed by Sonal Joshi. She also has signed up for Rohit Shetty 's debut web series, Indian Police Force alongside Sidharth Malhotra and Vivek Oberoi
