Rajkummar Rao calls Bhumi Pednekar a rockstar; opens up about working with her in Badhaai Do and Bheed

Back in 2019, Karan Johar managed to get two of Bollywood’s finest actors on his chat show for the 6th season-- Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar . Watching them together was truly a delight for fans and made us hope that some filmmaker would cast them together soon. Our wish was granted and the two are now busy winning hearts with Badhaai Do , their first film together. The comedy drama follows the story of two individuals who opt for a lavender marriage instead of coming out of the closet. Well, up next, Raj and Bhumi will reunite on-screen in Anubhav Sinha ’s Bheed.

In a recent chat with ETimes, Rajkummar opened up about his experience of working with Bhumi. He was quoted saying, “Bhumi is a rockstar. I admire her for the way she is. Other than being a phenomenal actor, she is kind and supportive. We just finished shooting another film together (Anubhav Sinha’s Bheed) and working with her is like getting to spend time with a close friend. Our bond is only getting stronger with every film. She is someone who I can talk to about anything, not just work related. We do shit talk and that’s the best form of friendship.”

He explained that with Bhumi, he doesn’t need a specific topic to talk about and when they are together, they are constantly laughing. Rajkummar went on to add, “The same rapport you will see in the film, where we are more like friends so that helped. The readings and rehearsals also broke the ice. I figured she is so chilled out that shooting with her would be a breeze.”

While Badhaai Do was a comedy drama, Bheed has been described as a social drama by the makers. Are you excited to see Rajkummar and Bhumi together again?
