Robert Downey jr. reveals Iron Man's alternative final line to Thanos in Avengers: End Game

Avengers: Endgame ended the third phase of the MCU and brought to a close the Infinity Saga. It also marked the departure of Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man who sacrifices himself in order to stop Thanos and his army by using the infinity gauntlet to erase him and his army.

His famous last words to the mad Titan were, "I am Iron Man" which have gone down in movie history and earned their place among other iconic movie lines and quotes.

But it seems that on the set the writers was experimenting with some funny alternative lines to send the hero on a more flamboyant note instead.

In a recent interview on the Hypocondriactor Podcast, the actor was asked to say his last line to Thanos from Avengers: Endgame to which he responded -

“Correct answer is ‘I am Iron Man,’ but I had so many alt lines that I wanted to put forward. Oh god, let me think. They were all super smart-ass lines like I was trying to, y’know, dumb stuff like, ‘You are so f-cked’ or whatever. You know what, I’ll have to go back to my notes. I get the Infinity Stones and then have the power to snap and have whatever I wanna have happen - Oh, I was gonna say ‘Oh, snap.'”

These alternative lines would have suited Tony Stark's personality a bit better but in the long run, we are better off with the final result that we got to see on the big screen.

Avengers: Endgame grossed over 2.7 billion dollars worldwide becoming the second highest-grossing movie of all time beaten only by James Cameron's Avatar.

As for Robert Downey Jr. and his iconic portrayal of Iron Man, there are rumors that we may see him in the future in a cameo appearance now that the multiverse will be introduced into the MCU with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Meanwhile, there are also rumors that actor Tom Cruise will be playing the role of Iron Man aka Tony stark from a different universe in Doctor Strange 2
