'Russo Brothers yahi mila tumko?' : Varun Dhawan headlining Indian version of Russo Brothers' Citadel leaves netizens divided

Varun Dhawan announced today (December 20) his probably the most ambitious project to date. Yes, you heard it right! The actor will headline the Indian version of the Russo Brothers ’ Citadel . The series that will also mark Varun’s debut in the digital space will be helmed by Raj & DK. However, the news has led to mixed reviews by netizens.

While some fans of Varun Dhawan were genuinely happy that he is coming up with such a challenging yet exciting project, a section of the netizens also felt that the actor isn’t the right choice for the project. A netizen wrote, “Russo brothers yahi mila tumko?” while some other users stated that names like Vicky Kaushal or Vidyut Jammwal would have been a better choice for the untitled series. A netizen added that the Russo Brothers have downgraded their graph by taking the Bhediya actor after Dhanush was seen in The Gray Man. Another user went on to say, “Iss overacting ki dukaan ko kyun liya?” while another netizen went on to mock Varun by saying, “Bhaiya ab to leonardo de caprio ke level pe agaye.” Another netizen said, “Lagta hai russo brothers pagal ho gye hain.” A user went on to add, “Yahi Hota Hai Nepotism. However, Varun Dhawan also had his fair share of cheerleaders. Some fans were genuinely delighted for the Badlapur actor to grab this mammoth project. The first-to-launch series in the Citadel universe will star Richard Madden, Priyanka Chopra and Stanley Tucci.
