Sylvester Stallone shares the first look poster for his upcoming superhero movie 'Samaritan'

The actor shared the first look poster for his upcoming superhero movie Samaritan , in which Sylvester Stallone will be playing the role of a retired superhero whose past life is discovered by a young boy.

The movie is directed by Julius Avery known for directing the 2018 action horror movie Overlord is helming the project.

The actor posted the first look poster on his Instagram and also talked about the project and playing a superhero.

In Samaritan, thirteen-year-old Sam Cleary (Javon "Wanna" Walton) suspects that his mysterious and reclusive neighbor Mr. Smith (Sylvester Stallone) is actually a legend hiding in plain sight. Twenty years ago, Granite City’s super-powered vigilante, Samaritan, was reported dead after a fiery warehouse battle with his rival, Nemesis.

This will be the third time the actor will be playing the role of a superhero, the previous ones being his role in Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 and the 1995 movie Judge Dredd.

Speaking about the movie and his role the actor said

"I love action films that also have heart. I wanted to be involved with Samaritan because this story has many layers that I think people can relate to, It’s something of a morality tale that is also very exciting to watch. We are thrilled that this will be seen globally on Prime Video where my fans and all audiences can enjoy it together around the world."

The screenplay for Samaritan is written by Bragi F. Schut with David Ungaro serving as the cinematographer.

Joining Sylvester Stallone the rest of the cast includes Javon "Wanna" Walton, Pilou Asbæk, Dascha Polanco, and Moises Arias.

The release of the poster does mean that we can expect a trailer for the superhero movie soon.

Samaritan is set to stream on Amazon Prime Video on August 26, 2022.
