Valimai Box Office - Ajith's action thriller gets a stupendous opening with Rs. 96 crores in collections worldwide

After a gap of over two years, Thala Ajith 's much-awaited Tamil film Valimai arrived in cinemas on Thursday and has received a warm welcome from fans.

The movie has had the highest opening for a Tamil movie since the pandemic started. The Rajinikanth movie Annaatthe held the record previously with Rs. 24 crores on its opening day. In addition, outside the country, Valimai has earned over Rs. 20 crores and is doing especially well in Singapore and Malaysia.

Valimai is an action thriller starring Ajith Kumar in the lead playing an IPS officer Arjun Kumar who has to take on a group of violent gang members in Chennai with the help of his partner Sophia played by Huma Qureshi.

The movie is written and directed by H. Vinoth and is produced by Booney Kapoor along with ZEE Studios.

The movie was released in over 659 theaters in Tamil Nadu and had earned over Rs. 65 crores from pre-booking alone. Valimai has collected a total of Rs. 76 crores from across India on Day 1 [Thursday] and Rs. 20 crores outside the country bringing the total opening day collection to a whopping Rs. 96 crores despite releasing on a workday.

If this keeps up the movie will go on to break more records by the end of its opening weekend. Ajith's film still has a 96 percent occupancy rate in theaters, the movie has also risen to the top spots both in Singapore and Malaysia.

The rest of the cast of Valimai includes Kartikeya Gummakonda, Gurbani Judge, Sumithra , Raj Ayyappa, Dhruvan, Pearle Maaney, and Dinesh Prabhakar.

The music for the movie is composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja , with Nirav Shah handling the cinematography and Vijay Velukutty in charge of editing
