'Varisu' producer Dil Raju clarifies his recent statements about Thalapathy Vijay and Ajith after fan backlash

Yesterday producer Dil Raju found himself in hot water after he made a few statements online regarding Tamil actors Vijay and Ajith . In a recent interview promoting the movie, Dil Raju first revealed that Vijay was not the first choice for the Varisu .

Then adding fuel to the fire the producer said that distributors should give more screens more Vijay's upcoming Varisu rather than Ajith's movie Thunivu because Vijay is the bigger star.

Both Varisu and Ajith's Thunivu are set to clash at the box office in January, Dil Raju's statements did not go down well with fans as there is a long-standing rivalry between the fans of both actors.

Resulting in the producer, who works primarily in Telugu was recently trolled online, he was also heavily criticized by Telugu audiences as well for allocating more screens for Varisu rather Telugu films like Chiranjeevi's Waltair Veerayya and Balakrishna's Veera Simha Reddy.

The producer issued a statement that his words were taken out of context and that he only compared the actors in reference to the distribution of screens.

“My words are being misconstrued. I am a lover of cinema and I have made 50 films. I made a reference to Vijay garu and Ajith garu only in the context of the theaters issue but the essence was not taken and instead something else was blown out of all proportions,”

Varisu which is directed by Vamshi Paidipally is a family entertainer, the movie will be the first on-screen pairing of Vijay and Rashmika Mandanna.

Varisu will be facing stiff competition both in the Tamil and Telguu box office. In Tamil Nadu, it will clash with Ajith starrer Thunivu and at the Telgu Box office, the move will face off against Chiranjeevi's Waltair Veerayya and Balakrishna's Veera Simha Reddy.

Thalapthy Vijay's last movie Beast, despite doing well at the box office was panned by critics and fans, so fans have a lot invested in Varisu hoping that the actor will start 2023 off with a hit.

The supporting cast of Varisu includes Prabhu, R. Sarathkumar, Prakash Raj, Sangeetha, Khushbu, Ganesh Venkatraman, and Yogi Babu.

Varisu will hit theaters worldwide on January 12, 2023.
