Vijay’s The Greatest of All Time is based on THIS organisation, director Venkat Prabhu spills major details

There have been several speculations surrounding the plotline of Thalapathy Vijay’s upcoming sci-fi action thriller The Greatest of All Time (The GOAT). Recently, director Venkat Prabhu opened up about what the film is actually based on.

According to the director, the film revolves around a special intelligence group named SATS - Special Anti-Terrorist Squad. Vijay’s squad consists of Prashanth, Prabhu Deva, and Ajmal Ameer. “The G.O.A.T is a fictional story, but we have tried to make it as close to reality as possible. It's about the SATS - Special Anti-Terrorist Squad - who work in collaboration with the RAW organization." He further added that the film follows the challenges they face post an operation they were involved in the past. "At one point, some members of this group did something significant in their past, and now that very action has come back as a problem they have to face. The central theme of the movie is how they confront and overcome this challenge,” the director revealed. 

 Fan theories about The GOAT

Based on fan theories stemming from the first glimpse released on Thalapathy Vijay’s birthday, many speculated that the film might explore themes like cloning technology, which is predicted to become more prevalent by 2050. There was also speculation that the upcoming Venkat Prabhu directorial would involve time travel and that Vijay would appear in a dual role. Although the makers had previously released the first and second-look posters of the film, suggesting that Vijay would be playing both father and son roles, recent reports indicate that Vijay might be essaying a third role, making it a triple treat for fans.

About The GOAT

Directed by Venkat Prabhu, The Greatest of All Time marks the first collaboration between the actor-director duo. The film stars Mohan, Prashanth, Sneha, Laila, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Jayaram, Yogi Babu, VTV Ganesh, Vaibhav, Premgi Amaren, Aravind Akash, and Ajmal Ameer. The music for the film has been composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, with Siddhartha Nuni as the cinematographer. 

The Greatest of All Time is slated for release on September 5, 2024.
