Vinod Mehra's wife says Rekha was 'the person who remained in his life till his end'

Vinod Mehra and Rekha 's rumoured marriage was much talked about back in the days. It is still something that fans still remember, and while the actress had denied the reports, it was being said that the secret marriage did happen. Now, Vinod Mehra's wife Kiran Mehra has spoken about her late husband's relationship with the evergreen actress. In fact, she even claimed that if there was one person who was with him till the end of his life, it would be Rekha.

Talking to ETimes, Kiran Mehra said, "The person who remained in his (Vinod Mehra's) life till his end is Rekha. She was like a family member and I still look up to her as a friend. Rekha is a wonderful person, very loving and forgiving. She even attended our marriage. If I meet her today, I will give her the tightest hug. I know her mother and sisters. I am not comparing myself to someone who's so high up there- but actually, Rekha and I are very similar."

It was said that Rekha and Vinod Mehra had secretly tied the knot in 1973, much against the wishes of the latter's mother. In fact, Yasser Usman in his unofficial autobiography of Rekha had written, "Such was her hostility to Rekha that she reportedly pushed the actress away when the latter tried to touch her feet." The reported marriage came to an end soon. However, in an interview with Simi Grewal in 2004, Rekha denied marrying Vinod Mehra. Mehra later had an arranged marriage with Meena Broca which ended when he found love in Bindiya Goswami. This too came to an end, and in 1988, he married Kiran Mehra with whom he was married till he passed away in 1990. His two children, Soniya and Rohan Mehra are both actors.
