'We can't make a misstep at any point': Pathaan director Siddharth Anand on responsibility of working with Shah Rukh Khan

Siddharth Anand who has delivered a hit like Bang Bang and a blockbuster like War is feeling the weight of responsibility for delivering Bollywood’s biggest action film with Shah Rukh Khan starrer Pathaan . The film was finally announced a few weeks ago after being in the making for nearly two years and Siddharth has now said in an interview that he can’t go wrong with this film.

The anticipation for Pathaan only grows with time as the movie marks Shah Rukh’s return to films after nearly four years and the makers are ensuring to take ever step right to ensure that the deliver. Talking to Mid-Day recently, Siddharth said "Pathaan has been designed as the biggest action spectacle from the Hindi film industry. We have the most-loved superstar of our generation with us. It is an honour and a responsibility for us. So, we can't make a misstep at any point. We ensured that Pathaan's date announcement video gave bang for the buck to the audience."

The filmmaker also confirmed that for Pathaan Deepika Padukone was his original choice to be the leading lady and justified her casting by banking on the previous films of SRK and Deepika where their chemistry stood out. Siddharth said that the actress makes ‘the film more exciting’ and also spoke about John calling the actor ‘undisputed in action’. Speaking of the pressure and anticipation the Pathaan director said he loves it.

John is reportedly the antagonist in Pathaan while Shah Rukh Khan plays hero. The film has also added a cameo by Salman Khan who will be in character as the RAW agent Tiger.

The cast of Pathaan is busy filming a schedule in Spain which has been long delayed now. Pathaan makers have set Republic Day 2023 as the new release date for the project.
