When Karan Johar refused Irrfan Khan's role of Priyanka Chopra's wife-beater husband in 7 Khoon Maaf

Priyanka Chopra starrer 7 Khoon Maaf might not have been a box office rager but the actress’ performance in this Vishal Bharadwaj directed black comedy was quite appreciated. Not to mention her having six husbands in the film got the project a lot of attention.

While Neil Nitin Mukesh , John Abraham, Alexander Diachenko, Annu Kapoor, and Naseeruddin Shah played Priyanka’s six husbands did you know that filmmaker Karan Johar could have been one of them?

Karan Johar who had a few fleeting cameos in films while 7 Khoon Maaf was in the making was asked to play one of Priyanka’s six husbands in the film. Filmmaker Vishal Bharadwaj was keen on casting Karan in the role which was later taken up by none other than Irrfan Khan .

Though Vishal Bharadwaj didn’t exactly walk up to Karan to offer him the part, the filmmaker had extended the offer though Priyanka who is his good friend. However, Karan flat out refused the part.

The Kuch Kuch Hota Hai director was initially amused by the prospect but ultimately didn’t exactly picture himself playing a wife beater and decided to pass up the offer without a second thought.

Well, Vishal Bharadwaj later got Irrfan Khan on board for the role of Musafir Khan who was soft spoken poet by day and a sado-masochist by night.

Talking about refusing the role Karan had said at the time, "From what angle do I look like a wife-beater? And how could I enact a scene making love to Priyanka Chopra! And that too as a sex maniac! There is no way I could do this."

Karan ultimately took a character role in Anurag Kashyap directed Bombay Velvet in 2015 which starred Anushka Sharma and Ranbir Kapoor but the film turned out to be a disaster of epic proportions.
