When Ranveer Singh called Karan Johar's idea of remaking Sangam with Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone and him 'blockbuster'

Ranveer Singh recently during an AMA session with his fans shared the excitement of user who asked if he would consider collaborating with Ranbir Kapoor for a film in the future. The actor replied to the message saying that it would be ‘kick*ass’ but did you know Karan Johar once hoped to cast the two actors in a remake of the cult film Sangam ?

Karan had in fact spoken about the idea on Koffee With Karan once when he hosted the two actors together for an episode in season 5. The filmmaker had pitched the idea of remaking Raj Kapoor, Vyjayanthimala and Rajendra Kumar led 1964 film with Ranbir, Ranveer and Deepika Paukone on the show.

Ranbir said on the show pointing at Karan, “He keeps telling me I want to make a triangle with you and Ranveer,” to which the filmmaker said, “I do want to make this film. I want to make Sangam.” When Ranveer asked who else he’d cast Karan replied ‘Deepika’ and the actor dubbed the idea as a blockbuster.

However, when Karan asked the two actors if he should consider it a fortified offer things took a funny turn as Ranveer asked the filmmaker, “It depends where are your going to base it, New York , London, It’s directed by Karan Johar.”

Karan asked the actor why can’t he make a heartland film Ranveer said he also wants to star in a fancy Karan Johar film [like Ranbir’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil ]. Even though the Sangam remake may not have panned out, what’s ironic is that Ranveer is starring in a desi film directed by Karan Johar, Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani which also stars Alia Bhatt .

On the show, Ranbir also reminisced about an early conversation with Ranveer where the Padmaavat star had the idea of a two hero film called Project X in which he wanted both on them to share screen space. Ranveer jokingly also asked Karan to bankroll that project which he declined.
