6 Records Broken By Deepika Padukone's Padmaavat In Its Opening Weekend
Updated : January 30, 2018 01:41 PM ISTSince the day Sanjay Leela Bhansali announced Padmavati, protests erupted all across the country from numerous fringe political outfits as well as religious groups. Even during the shooting of the film in Jaipur, the sets were vandalised and the director was manhandled.
There were threats made to the cast and crew of the film and bounties were announced over the body parts of Deepika Padukone and Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Even after repeated assurances by Bhansali that the film doesn't portray the Rajputs in bad-light nor does it has any scene between Khilji and Padmavati, the protestors didn't budge. The movie made its way to the theatres sans 'I", titled Padmaavat and the states of Rajasthan, MP, Gujarat and Goa refused to show the film.
Still, the threats by the protestors were not enough to keep the movie-going audiences from the theatres and Padmaavat is on its way to becoming a big hit at the box-office. During its extended weekend, the film has managed to break records and as the word of mouth is strong, the film will slowly capitalize on its numbers. Here are the records that have been broken by Padmaavat till now:
Deepika Padukone's 7th 100 Crore film: The film makes her the top Bollywood actress working in the industry today. She is the only actress to have 7 100 Crore films in the 100 Crore club.
