    8th Jagran Film Festival To Open With Farhan Akhtar’s ‘The Fakir of Venice’

    Director Anand Surapur’s upcoming film 'The Fakir of Venice' starring Farhan Akhtar will be the opening film the 8th Jagran Film Festival. The festival will kick-start from July 1 and will be held at the Siri Fort Auditorium. Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor will inaugurate the festival.

    The film is a drama feature and is based on real life experience of filmmaker Homi Adjania of taking a fakir to Venice. The flick depicts the story of hiring an Indian conman to find a fakir who can bury himself in sand so that an art project could be installed in Venice. He comes across a poor man from Mumbai slum, thereby conning the European art world successfully.

    Actor Annu Kapoor stars alongside Farhan Akhtar. The two have been shown wearing saffron colour outfits. Starting in New Delhi, the festival will travel to 16 cities thereafter, Kanpur, Lucknow, Allahabad, Varanasi, Patna, Bhopal, Ranchi, Indore, Ludhiana and Dehradun. It will end in Mumbai with the award ceremony taking place in September. A total of 130 films will be screened at the festival.
